Chana Daal Poori(Paratha)

Chana daal poori/paratha is a simple and delicious traditional dish which is famous in Bihar and Uttar pradesh states. It is a local dish made for spacial occasions. Any traditional foods from anywhere always gives a high satisfaction to your test buds. Although this dish is very similar to other stuffed parathas like aaloo paratha, Gobhi paratha, mutter paratha, Mooli paratha however it special as it is filled with Chana dall instead of vegetables. This special dish is made during dussehra and specially when the bride comes to their in-laws place first time after marriage. This paratha/poori is enjoyed with sweet rice kheer and spicy curry. I love this dish and just the name makes me mouthwatering. Chana daal poori/paratha is made with very less ingredients basically using boiled spiced chana daal, filled in wheat flour dough balls. You can skip garlic if you making it for worship during dussehra. To make poori it requires deep frying however for paratha you can cook with greasing oil on a pan.

Mooli ( Raddish) Paratha

Mooli Paratha is a type of bread which is famous in Northern part of India. There are many types of paratha recipes like Aaloo mutter gobhi parathagobhi paratha, methi paratha, green spinach & mustard paratha,  Kale & Spinach Lachha Paratha or so on. Paratha’s could be either stuffed, plain or veggie mixed with dough. Paratha goes very well with raita or pickle along with a cup of tea at breakfast. Mooli paratha can be made either stuffed or mixed with flour. This recipe is non-stuffed version of Mooli paratha made with grated mooli, mixed with wheat flour and some spices. Mooli paratha can also be enjoyed with gravy based curries and is perfect for lunch boxes.

Baked Bhakarwadi

Bhakarwadi is a tea time snacks item which is traditionally a spicy Maharashtrian snacks prepared using hot spices and deep fried in oil. In this recipe instead of deep frying, I have baked it in oven however both of them tastes similar. The fillings for the Bhakarwadi can be customized to your taste. Generally it has sweet and sour taste and nice aroma of spices. The outer crust is made either from all purpose flour or a mixture of  besan and regular wheat flour. If you don’t like the baked one, you can just deep fry instead of baking. Bhakarwadi can be store in a air-tight container for weeks and goes well with cup of tea.

Green Spinach & Mustard Paratha

Paratha is a popular Indian flat bread all over India. Parathas are generally served with various curries and side dishes in Indian food. There are varieties of paratha in Indian cuisines like stuffed paratha, plain paratha or veggie parathas. This paratha recipe is prepared using wheat flour, spinach & mustard leaves which is very healthy and easy to make. This paratha is a simple layered paratha.This green paratha is very convenient to pack for kids lunch boxes with dry curry. Normally kids don’t like to eat spinach in its other forms so this is a good option to feed them the same. Methi Bhatura

Chole bhatura is very yummy Punjabi dish and very popular in northern as well as southern India. Bhatura is a puffed Indian bread, which is made with all purpose flour. This recipe uses a mix of wheat flour and all purpose flour and is flavored with fresh methi leaves and carom seeds. Adding sour yogurt gives a tangy taste to bhatura. Bhatura goes very well with chole or any Indian curry. Everybody loves Chole Bhatura.

Tandoori Salmon Fish Frankie

Frankie or kati roll is a popular delicious street food in India. The Frankie could be prepared either vegetarian or non- vegetarian by just adding grilled meat either chicken or fish. This recipe is prepared using grilled/tandoori salmon fish with roasted bell peppers, onions, green lettuce and flavored with yogurt mint chutney. The outer layer used is carrot round paratha/chapati. This is really a great travel food which you can prepare and carry with you on your travel. Kids love this dish on the go and it’s very easy to serve when rolled in aluminium foil. You can always experiment with your own veggies.

Focaccia Bread

Focaccia Bread is a Italian bread which is flat and oven baked. The bread is generally topped with various herbs. Rosemary gives a wonderful aroma to bread. The bread is served with olive oil and can also be topped with olives, mushrooms, green onion and tomatoes. It tastes very good and certainly different than any normal bread. It is used as side during the lunch or dinner.

Zucchini Roll

Zucchini roll works out to be a light appetizer for you small parties or get togethers. You can prepare it either with or without crackers. This zucchini roll filling is made from wild rice, quinoa, tofu, soy mayonnaise (made at home) with achari flavor.  The crackers are made using wheat flour and flax seed which gives a crunchy taste to the rolls. It came out pretty nice and had a flavorful taste.
