Steamed dahi vada is a minor variation of regular version of dahi vada. In this recipe vada is not fried rather steamed. This make it more healthy and more fat free. The taste is as good as regular dahi vada.
Ingredients
For Vada
- 1/2 cup Urad dal soaked over night
- 1/2 cup Yellow moog dal soaked over night
- 1 tbsp Ginger grated
- 1-1/2 tsp Crushed Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 cup Chopped coriander leaves
- 1/4 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 tsp Asafoetida (hing)
- 4 cup Fat free yogurt
- 1/2 cup Low fat milk
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- Salt to taste
For Garnishing
- 1/4 cup Mint and coriander chutney
- 1/4 cup Sweet chutney
- 1/4 cup Chopped coriander leaves
- 2 tbsp Chaat masala powder
- 1 tbsp Dry roasted cumin powder
- 1 tbsp dry roasted red chili powder
- 1 tbsp Black salt
Instructions
- Add 2 cups of water in to steamer and let it boil. Meanwhile grease the idli stand with some oil. Place little portion of batter on your fingers and make a hole in center using thumb, place it on idli stand. Fill all the slots of idli stand with vada and steam it for 15 minutes at medium heat. Turn off the heat once its done, and leave the stand in steamer for about 10 minutes.
