Gujiya is sweet snacks item made in north India mostly during festival of Holi. This is a rich delicacy prepared with mawa (milk cream) and dry fruits.
Ingredients
For Filling
- 250g Homemade mawa or store bought mawa
- 1/4 cup Rava or Sooji
- 1/8 tsp Nutmeg powder
- 1 tbsp Poppy seeds ( khasakhas)
- 2 cup Fresh Grated Coconut
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup Pistachios and raisins ground
- 1/2 cup Jaggery or sugar
- Pinch of Salt
For dough
- 2-1/2 cup All purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 cup Ghee or butter
- 2-1/2 tbsp Rava or Sooji
- Water for kneading
Instructions
- Take one poori, apply some water on edges, place 1 tbsp mawa mixture and fold it and join the edge and make a semi circle shape. Pinch, fold and twist the circular edge to give a gujiya design. Make all Gujiyas following the same procedure and cover it with damp cloth. You could also use Gujia mold available in the shops.
